Guest Designer for Lawn Fawnatics Challenge # 18 - Emboss Resist

Hello and Welcome December!! 

I'm honored to be Guest Designing this month for the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge Blog. I created two cards for Challenge #18 - Emboss Resist.

I love this technique - it's an easy way to add detail to a project. Here's my first card using a combination of Lawn Fawn stamps and dies.

I stamped snowflakes onto my blank card base using white embossing powder and once it was heat set I blended some Lawn Fawn inks over the background. The embossed snowflakes resist the inks and stand out on the inked background.

Thanksgiving Day

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving! I'm looking forward to Family time this afternoon including visiting my Dad in the nursing home - he is always greatly missed at home but especially on the Holidays. Then onto my Brother and SIL's for more great company and some amazingly delicious food. Calorie restraint might be hard today - Thanksgiving is one of my FAV feasts! So much to be Thankful for. 

I'm also Thankful to have a great crew at work. To show them how grateful I am for them I made a bunch of cards using Lawn Fawn's Shadow Box Die. These box cards are so adorable and fold to fit in a standard sized envelope. I made twelve of these cards for my awesome co-workers. Here's a peek at some the cards.

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 14 - Happy Little Critters

Hello. I'm back today with another card based on the current challenge over on the 

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge Blog. The current challenge is to use Lawn Fawn's ADORABLE critters on a paper craft project. How easy is that! So many critters to choose from. 

I stayed in the Fall/Thanksgiving theme when I created my card. I combined several sets of Lawn Fawn Stamps an Dies and here's what I created. 

I love the new Stitched Hillside Backdrop Die. It's a great base to create a scene on a card. I layered puffy cloud borders to add dimension without making my card too thick.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!! Hello Crop on the Cape 2017!!

Hello! Time to dust off my blog and bring it back to life!

I'm so excited to be spending the weekend with a great group of crafty friends. This is our annual Crop on the Cape and it's a wonderful time to reconnect - good for the heart and soul!! I'm hoping to be somewhat productive - we'll see how that goes.

Since today is St. Patrick's Day I'm sharing a few cards I made awhile ago with Lawn Fawn's adorable "My Lucky Charm" stamps and dies. I used my Copics to color in the cute cat and four leaf clovers. Here's my first card. (The pics were taken at night and at work with my iphone so not the best quality)

I used some vellum to add a soft feel to the card. The title is white embossed. It was fun to use my Copic markers again.

Here's my second card.

I used darker greys for this cat and added some stars from the stamp set. Here's a close up.

Holiday ATC's

Hello and Happy Christmas Eve Eve! I truly cannot believe there's only two days until Christmas. I am working today (a drawback of working in the medical field) then off for three days. Family time on Christmas Day then a chill day and then back to work. 

I wanted to do something nice for my coworkers so I decided, at the way last minute, to create some Holiday Atc's. I haven't created any in awhile and I was up for a last minute challenge. I found a cute Vintage image, added some ribbon, doilies, corrugated cardboard, sheet music, Petaloo Flowers, shimmer twine, sequins, gesso and Ranger's Occasions Small Talk Stickers and went into mass production!! Here's a look.

I included a small easel so the ATC could be easily displayed.

I love giving special unique handmade gifts, even if it's at the LAST MINUTE!

Teacher Cards

Well, Hello December ... when did you sneak up on us?!?! Not sure I'm ready for you but here you are. I feel like the race is on!! 

I'm back today to share a few Teacher Cards I made using more of the 

Simon Says Stamp May 2016 Card Kit. These cards were super easy to make and would make a nice home made greeting for a favorite teacher. 

I can't get enough of the Lawn Fawn 6 x 6 Plaid Paper pads. I stamped the adorable apples onto distress Watercolor Cardstock and then water colored them with Distress Inks. Here's some close ups. 

Even a green apple looks cute with the plaid papers.

Here's the final card.

I see more plaid in my future!!

Hello 2016!

One of my goals for 2016 is to be more active. This encompasses many areas - physically, on my blog, in my planner, with family and friends and especially creatively! Physically improving involves some surgery on my hip which I'm dreading but I'm finally ready to not be in pain anymore - I'm too young to be limping and quite uncomfortable and lately it's all the time. I feel like I had to get to this point before I could except that surgery is the best option. I've been walking more already and plan to continue even though it hurts.

I want to blog more and include some planner pages. I have had planners for decades for work and personal stuff. They have never been "pretty" ones or decorated, just merely to keep work and appointments straight. With the iphone craze my planner became secondary. Now with the planner craze in full swing I prettied up my new planner and find that leftover stickers and embellies work great for sprucing up my pages. I'm also planning to join The Planner Society Kit Club - signing up today if all goes well!

On New Year's Eve I stayed home, and worked/played in my studio while pet sitting my neighbor's dog. I updated some of my Tim Holtz/Ranger Ink Distress Charts. I use these charts all the time to match papers to a specific distress product. I find these reference charts work well for my process - then I grab the product and go. I have a few of my updated charts on my Instgram account. I also finished my December Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015. I have enjoyed creating all of Tim's tags of 2015 and I still have a few more to share with you. What made these tags fun was creating them with my Artsy Fartsy Girls Jenn Shurkus and Rachel Kleinman. We share our products and have MANY laughs while creating! I hope we can continue this in 2016 - even though Rachel has moved to Baltimore.  With Google Hangout we can still create together even when we're not physically together!

I stayed pretty true to Tim's tag with a few exceptions - the wreath, bow and the background stencil. Here's Tim's tag for December ...

I didn't have the background stencil he used or the punches to make the wreath so I used Boxwood twine and the Festive layering stencil instead. I have listed all my products used below. I used the Simon Says Stamp Perfect Bow Die. I even stitched around the edges of the tag. Here's my tag...

I love the splatters of Picket Fence Distress Paint on the wreath and bow - it gives the wreath a snowy effect.

I also love the stitching around the edges of the tag.

I'm so glad I finished all the tags of 2015 and I plan on participating again this year - hopefully with my Artsy Fartsy Girls! Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
