Craft Fair This Saturday!!!!!

Good Morning! I'm putting together some last minute projects for the upcoming Craft Fair this Saturday. I made a few more Breast Cancer canvases and this time I used some papers from my Planner Society Kits. I save just about everything from these kits because they are soooo gorgeous!! I even save the packaging and use them on my project life pages. Here are the canvases I just finished up this weekend.
These were so fun to put together and I love how bright and cheery they are - a perfect gift for a survivor or anyone going through Breast Cancer.
Please stop by this Saturday if you're in the area - this fair is huge and it would be a great time to pick up some Holiday Gifts!

It's Craft Fair Time!!

Don't you love this time of year! The Fall season is fabulous here in New England. The crisp air, the leaves starting to change color and just about everything pumpkin. It's also Craft Fair Time. This year a good friend and I are going to be in a local Craft Fair. I will be selling LOTS of my canvases, cards and other art pieces. If you're local we would LOVE for you to stop by. The fair will have over 80 artisans selling their amazing crafts. It's the 35th year of this craft fair so it's a BIG event. This will be the second fair I've been in and the first one of this size.
Here's some Details:

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge: February Reveal | Glitter

Welcome February 1st! The daylight hours are already getting a bit longer and more daylight is always welcome in my book!! Hope you all had a great weekend. My weekend was productive - family time on Saturday and crafty time on Sunday.
We have a new reveal on the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog.

As you can see, this month's theme is GLITTER! I haven't created a canvas in awhile so that was the plan. The DT was lucky this month as we received some yummy new paints from PaperArtsy.

PaperArtsy JUST released a new line of Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paints in some seriously delicious colors. The paints go on soooooo smoothly and dry super fast. As a mixed media artist, I have ALOT of paints but these truly are a pleasure to work with. I grabbed a 6x12 canvas and applied a heavy coat of fiber paste to create a textured background. I then used Tim Holtz Bricked layering stencil and texture paste to add even more texture. This is a fun technique to use prior to adding paints or mists - the paints and spray inks then settle into the "nook and crannies" created by all the awesome texture! I then added two shades of Fresco Paint: "Captain Peacock" and "Caribbean Sea" to create an ombre palette on my canvas. I watered down the paints as I applied them so they would blend.  I then added some hand cut patterned paper hearts to the middle of the canvas. I painted a wood veneer "xoxo" with "Cherry Red" and glued that to the canvas. I added some beads around the painted word and here's the end result (I apologize for the lack of step out photos - I was down to the wire with this project - story of my life lately LOL)
The glitter is on top of the "xoxo" which you can see better in my close-ups.
If you click on the photo you will see a sharper image and be able to see the glitter better.
Our sponsor this month is Frantic Stamper Inc. They are offering a $25.00 gift certificate to a lucky participant so make sure you follow our few simple rules to qualify! More detailed info on the MMMC Blog.

My supplies for this project are listed below and include all but the new
PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paints which you will find on their website. The wood veneer is from Crate Paper.

Thanks for visiting and please stop by the MMMC Blog for more inspiration using these paints along with this month's Glitter theme! Have a great Monday!!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #15 Reveal | Get Texty

OK - Slow down Summer!! I don't want to believe it's already August! Summer is way too short in New England - especially after this past winter. I'm going to savor every last moment of summer and document the heck out of it!
With the first of August comes a brand spankin' new challenge over on the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog!! This month's theme is oh so fun! "GET TEXTY"!
Oh, the endless possibilities, right!! There are so many ways to interpret this challenge. I immediately thought of what I wanted to create. Here's my canvas ...
I started with a layer of Fiber Paste - my new FAV Mixed Media product. It leaves a yummy texture on the canvas that paints and spray inks settle into. I then randomly added OLD, and I mean OLD, chipboard alpha to the background. Once I liked the placement I painted a coat of gesso over the whole canvas.
Then comes the fun part. I decided to used Heidi Swapp Color Shine sprays for this piece. I started with Citron - a GORGEOUS shade of green.
I then added Teal, making sure I dried in between applications. I also added some White after the teal was dry.
I kept playing until I liked the result. I found some old Prima flowers from my stash that had a mixed media look to them. I added them to the lower left corner of the canvas and added some orange stemmed flowers for more color and texture.
I let the ink sprays drip onto the side of the canvas as well ...
One of the final steps was to add a fun Tim Holtz Gumdrop to the center of the flower. I applied some Mushroom and Gold Alcohol Inks to the gumdrop. I then splattered Gold Heidi Swapp color Shine to the canvas, added some Tim Holtz Small Talk - which I colored with a Wink of Stella Brush Pen in Clear, and was done! So easy and super fun!
