Independence Day Blog Hop!!

Hello Bloggers! I'm excited to be joining a new group of crafty blog friends in a fun adventure. We will host blog hops throughout the year featuring seasonal/holiday projects. We use products we like just for fun and inspiration!! So, Welcome to the Independence Day Blog Hop!!!

You should have arrived from the blog of Ceal Pritchett.

I decided to create an ATC for my Independence Day project! I started with a small ATC sized piece of white corrugated cardstock and painted the edges with gesso. I then layered a doily over the cardboard. I distressed and painted the edges of some pieces of paper from Graphic 45's A Place in Time - July Cut Aparts. I layered these pieces together ...

I added some sequins, some glitter ribbon from American Crafts, and a stick pin from my stash. I hand cut a banner and folded it over the stick pin. I then rolled three small pieces of paper to create firecrackers. The wick is made by sticking some Gold Shimmer twine from The Twinery into the rolled papers.

Be sure to check out all the blogs on this hop for lots of crafty Independence Day inspiration. I want to thank Donna Bowman  for the invite to participate and stop by her blog to see her FUN project with a great tutorial! ! Looking forward to the next Holiday already!!

Well, I haven't been the best blogger lately! I am creating but nothing I can share just yet! I'm only a bit behind on PL and I finished up Week 23 this past weekend. I used My Mind's Eye: Record It! Follow Your Heart Journaling Cards again for Week 23 - I love the color palette of this collection! I used page Design F for my layout - I Love all the 3x4 pockets in this design! Here's the entire page followed by close-ups ...

Here's the title card ... I used a fun date stamp and typed my journaling on my typewriter.

I added some washi tape and enamel dots to most of the cards ...

An Artsy Weekend

June has arrived and the warmer weather is FINALLY here! The nights are still cool - which I personally love for sound sleeping! I had a great crafty weekend. It started with a tag class I taught on Saturday at Right at Home Scrapbooking. We created two Julie Nutting Prima Doll Tags and it brought us all back to the paper dolls we created as kids. Here's the tags we made ...

The Mixed Media Monthy Challenge Blog is LIVE!!!

Hello Everyone!! Happy June 1st!! I am beyond thrilled to share my first project as a design team member for Mixed Media Monthly Challenge! Today is the launch of our exciting new blog so please stop by and check it out! This month's theme is Sprays Inks and Mists.

We would LOVE for you to play along with us!! You can create ANY project as long as you use ink sprays or mists. Entries will be accepted until midnight EST on the last day of the month. Several winners will be announced and you have an opportunity to win FABULOUS prizes!
I decided to create a tag using items I have in my stash - anything goes ... old jewelry, bottle cap, beads, flowers, paper clips - anything! I glued some textured materials to the tag and then prepped the tag with gesso. Next, I adhered all my items ...

I then repainted gesso over the entire tag. This made the tag uniform in color...

I have recently discovered the beauty of Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays. They are gorgeous - beautiful shimmer like you wouldn't believe. So I grabbed 5 colors and sprayed them on the tag drying in between each color so they wouldn't run together. The sprays sit and pool in some areas and they way the interact with the different textures is amazing. Here's the final result ...

We hope you will participate with us each month. Head on over to the MMMC Blog and check the inspiration from the whole team and a guest designer - there is a variety of projects all showcasing different ways to use sprays in your art!
