Mixed Media Monthly Challenge | Photo Inspiration

Hi Everyone! Hope you are all doing well!!
I am beyond excited for my upcoming annual Crop on the Cape Event. I am looking forward to seeing LOTS of wonderful crafty friends, taking LOTS of goofy pictures and maybe getting SOME crafting done!! It's such a great time and a nice break from work. We leave Friday morning and stay the whole weekend. It's ALWAYS a blast and I can't wait to see everyone.
Today I'm sharing my project for this month's Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. This month we have a photo inspiration as our challenge.
I chose the eggs and some of the colors of the photo as my inspiration. I created a mixed media tag using lots of distress inks to create a watercolor background. I also used distress inks to color my eggs. I started with Tim Holtz Watercolor Cardstock. I used watered down Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress inks to create the background. I added a doily to the background and then placed the watercolored eggs on top of the doily.
I used Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade to color the eggs.
I added some flecks of Gilt paint from the Dina Wakley Media line of heavy body acrylic paints. I used the same distress inks I used to color the eggs to dye the crinkle ribbon for the top of my tag.
As a reminder our sponsor this month is Waffle Flower Crafts, a crafty online shop that sells stamps and dies. A lucky winner will receive a $25.00 gift certificate to shop online at Waffle Flower Crafts.
Head on over to the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog to see the rules on how to join in on this month's fun challenge.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!!

Happy New Year - Welcome 2016

Happy New Year Everyone! Hello 2016 and to a fresh, new start. Are you a resolutions person? I've made a few, ones that I hope to accomplish. I made goals that weren't too grand so I have more of a chance to succeed! I have them written in my planner so I can refer to them often. One of them is to keep up with my planner more, including decorating so I'm going to join The Planner Society starting this month if my subscription goes through. I will share more as time goes on. My planner for this year is a Webster's Pages A5 Color Crush Planner. The A5 size is so much better for me than last years personal sized planner - more room for decorating!!
I am so happy to be staying on with the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Design Team for another term! I love creating mixed media projects with whatever I have in my stash - it's quite freeing! This month's theme is "Time Flies".
I created a tag for this month's project - I so love making tags!! I used Tim Holtz Clockwork layering stencil, lots of distress inks and watch parts to tie in with this month's theme. Here's my tag...
I started by blending several distress inks onto a manila tag. I splattered water on the inks to give it a marbled look. Then I applied Rangers Texture Paste through Tim Holtz Clockwork Layering Stencil. Once dry I added some watch parts, sequins and distress colored gauze as the focal point. The sentiment was typed on my vintage typewriter and inked with Blueprint Sketch distress ink and the crinkle ribbon was colored with Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio distress markers. Here's a few more close ups...
These watch pieces are from the Brimfield Fair. A coworker of mine thought of me when she was there and scooped them up for me. Hey, there's another resolution - Get to the Brimfield Fair this year!! The cheesecloth was colored with Distress Spray Stains. All products are listed below except for the Ground Expresso Ink that I couldn't get to link up for some reason.
Our sponsor and quest artist for this month is the fabulous Cheryl Boglioli. I was lucky enough to take a class with her a few years back. She is a great teacher and mixed media artist and I'm so glad she's joining us this month.

Cheryl is generously offering a prize this month full of products from companies that she works with.
Isn't this amazing?!?! Stop by the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge blog for all the details for a chance to win this AWESOME prize package. We are ringing in the New Year with a few new Design Team members - stop by the blog for the details!
Thanks so much for stopping by today and HAPPY NEW YEAY to all of you! Looking forward to a creative new year and thanks for all your support!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #18 | Texture

Welcome November! I am loving all the fall photo ops these past few weeks! The trees here in New England have been soooooo pretty! I have posted a bunch of pics on my Instagram account if you'd like to check them out!
A new month always means a new challenge on the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog. This month our challenge is TEXTURE!
The Design Team was so lucky this month as we received a TON of product from IndigoBlu. We received a product called Mega-Flake. When used with a special glue, "FlitterGlu" it creates a gilded look on just about any surface. I used a pretty IndigoBlu butterfly stamp, pounced some glue on the stamp and stamped it on heavy white cardstock. Then I sprinkled the mega-flake all over the stamped image, pressed it in with my fingers making sure all the tacky places of the stamped image were covered with the flake. With a special sponge, I scraped off the excess flake and ended up with several gilded butterflies for my cards.
Each butterfly came out different and even though it was quite messy and sticky, I LOVE the results!! Here's some close-ups ...
For this card I used a wood grain card base, texted vellum and beads for the butterfly's body for texture!
For my second card I embossed a kraft card base and used a doily for texture ...

Thanks so much to our sponsor this month!! Check out their website for some unique stamps, mega-flakes and more products!!!
We hope you will join us in this month's challenge! IndigoBlu is offering a great prize so get your craft on and join us for a chance to win!!
Have a great week and I'll see you soon. I have lots to share this month!

A Spooktacular Month

Happy October! I say this a lot, but time is flying by. This month is going to be super busy craft wise, so you'll be seeing lots from me on my blog! This month is a fun time to be creative with Halloween right around the creepy corner. It's freeing to just be silly and crazy when creating, using bright, bold colors that ordinarily may not be in your color palette. Stay tuned for some fun projects.
The first of every month brings a new challenge on the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog. This month's challenge is based on a Spooktacular Word Search - find a word or words and incorporate them into your project. Easy, right?
I decided to create a tag and I incorporated several words from the word search into my project. Here's my tag ...
I recently purchased Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous "Undertaker" Stamp Set and couldn't wait to use it! I used some new Grumbacher acrylic paints and India Ink to create the background. Once dry, I used a Tim Holtz Shatter Stencil and dabbed white paint through the stencil to create a web effect.
I chose the larger of the two skulls that are included in this awesome stamp set. I stamped the image on mixed media paper and colored the face with Ranger's newest distress color "Wilted Violet". This purple color is PERFECT for Halloween projects. You will see me use this color alot this month!! I had fun with the undertaker's eyes using Idea-ology gumdrops and a mini gear to add interest.
Our guest designer this month is Alexandra Heine, a Grumbacher mixed media artist. Her project is stunning so stop by our blog to see her work!
Our sponsor this month is Grumbacher.
They generously gave the Design Team a few products to play with this month. Their acrylic paints are great and we also received a set of woodless colored pencils which I can't wait to experiment with. They are offering a prize this month so be sure to join us in our fun challenge for a chance to win - more details on the MMMC blog!
Thanks for stopping by and I'll be back with much more fun this month!!! Happy October!!
