Holiday Bottle Cap Ornaments

Hello and Happy Sunday Morning! I wanted to hop on with a quick post before the last minute chaos of the Holiday season! This past year has been a great one creatively ... new design teams, lots of teaching, my first craft fair, fun loft art retreats and many crafty get-togethers with friends. I am working on new projects including a new canvas for a class at Right at Home Scrapbooking. While participating in the 12 Days of Christmas Holiday Blog Event I created a bottle cap ornament. I loved it so much I decided to create a few more. These bottle caps are from Maya Road and are big -  3.0"!! For the first one I used Lawn Fawn's "Snow Day" paper. I love the colors of this collection and how cute is this little bunny ...

There's glitter on the snow drifts and snowflakes and a cute little pom pom for the bunny's tail ...

The next ornament has an adorable green deer from the latest Noel Mignon kit "Cable Knit". I used some "Shaved Ice" from Stampendous for a snowy effect ...

Here's a close-up ...

These are so easy to create and can be made for any occasion!
Hope you all have a wonderful Holiday season. Thanks for all your support over the past year and I'm looking forward to sharing new projects and hanging out with you in 2015!!! Happy Holidays!!!

Day 12 - Holiday Wine Bottle Decoration

Creative Scrappers has the latest sketch revealed on the blog today. Sketch #284 was fun and came together very quickly for me - and I'm NOT a fast scrapper!! Here's my take on the sketch ...

I used Noel Mignon's December kit "Cable Knit". The kit is filled with current Holiday papers and embellishments. Here's a close-up of the photo and some layering ...

And, here's Sketch #284 ...

As you can see I stuck to the sketch - I just clustered most of the circles elements closer together. Now, let's see how you interpret the sketch!!

12 Days of Holiday Inspiration - Day 12

Welcome to Day 12 of the 12 Days of Holiday Inspiration Blog Event brought to you by the "Inspiration Crew".
We're just a group of online crafty blog friends who love being creative. This time we're doing a 12-day event to provide you with tons of Holiday Inspiration.
We're making crafty projects using products we like and some of us are even offering prizes. Check each blog and the information there for what prizes are being offered and when the winners will be announced on that blog.
I have truly enjoyed this Holiday Blog Event. It was fun creating every project and sharing them with you. I hope you have been inspired by all the lovely ladies who have participated. Please be sure to check out all their blogs as some are offering prizes. For my last project I wanted to share what I created for my office holiday party. We had a wine bottle decorating contest as part of our Holiday festivities! I had a few ideas and finally decided to wrap my bottle with lovely angel hair yarn and decorate it with beads, ribbon and sequins. I got the beads and yarn at Joann's and the rest I had in my stash...

I cut a primitive star out of cream colored cardboard, inked the edges and tied more yarn around the star...

Fun, right - and easy too. I used decoupage glue for everything and it held up well!!  Sadly, this Holiday Blog Event has concluded. Thanks for all who commented on my projects - it means a great deal to me! Please stop by all the blogs below as some are offering prizes and have the details on their sites. Happy creating and I hope we have inspired you to make some easy Holiday crafts!!

12 Days of Holiday Inspiration - Day 11

Welcome to Day 11 of the 12 Days of Holiday Inspiration Blog Event brought to you by the "Inspiration Crew".
Today I'm sharing my third canvas from a Holiday Canvas Ornaments class I recently taught at Right at Home Scrapbooking this past weekend. These 4x4 canvas ornaments are so cute and easy to create. I die-cut three ornaments using Spellbinders Nestabilities Heirloom Ornaments die. I applied a thick coat of Ranger's Distress Crackle Paint Clear Rock Candy to each ornament and let them dry naturally. The result is a subtle but amazing crackle effect ...

 Here's a close-up ...

The "Believe" is stenciled onto the canvas using Tim Holtz Layering Stencil "Christmas" and then inked with Wendy Vecchi's Archival Ink. A small eye hook is added to the top of the canvas so it's ready to hang on your Holiday tree!! I had so much fun making these little ornaments and I plan to do more next year!! Have a great day and I will return tomorrow for the final project for the Blog Event! Stop by the blogs below and leave these crafty ladies some love!!

12 Days of Holiday Inspiration - Day 10

Welcome to Day 10 of the 12 Days of Holiday Inspiration Blog Event brought to you by the "Inspiration Crew".
We're just a group of online crafty blog friends who love being creative. This time we're doing a 12-day event to provide you with tons of Holiday Inspiration.

I can't believe it's Day 10 of our Holiday Inspiration Event! I have had so much fun creating holiday projects and trying some techniques I haven't done in a while. Today I want to share another Holiday Canvas Ornament I created for a recent class at my LSS Right at Home Scrapbooking. We created three 4x4 canvas ornaments and this one was my favorite. I wanted to make some mittens for the canvas and I cut them out of green paper. They were way too plain so I grabbed Tim Holtz "Holiday Knit" Layering Stencil and Ranger Texture Paste to jazz up the mittens ...

I then inked the edges of the mittens, added cuffs and attached them to the canvas.

So cute and so easy! This would make a great Holiday Swap gift and all it needs is some ribbon or an ornament hook and it's ready to adorn a Holiday tree!! Thanks for stopping by and check out the blogs below for more Holiday crafts. I will return tomorrow with another fun project. See you then!

12 Days of Holiday Inspiration - Day 9

Welcome to Day 9 of the 12 Days of Holiday Inspiration Blog Event brought to you by the "Inspiration Crew".

We're making crafty projects using products we like and some of us are even offering prizes. Check each blog and the information there for what prizes are being offered and when the winners will be announced on that blog.
Today's Holiday card is based a popular theme: white-on-white!! I used a Sizzix Holiday Words embossing folder the card top. I used Neenah Solar White cardstock for the entire card ...

The scalloped circle is popped up for added dimension ...

I love the red glitter foam thickers against the bright white cardstock. This card was so easy to create and packs quite a punch! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the blogs below for more Holiday ideas!!!

We hope you have enjoyed the last week of Holiday Inspiration. We have 5 more days left so there's still plenty of time to inspire your Holiday crafting. Today I created a simple card. For the card base and card top I used Simon Says Stamp Woodgrain cardstock. This cardstock is gorgeous - thick. 111 lb., and textured and so pretty for a background. I die-cut a few ornaments from the Spellbinders Nestabilities Heirloom Ornaments dies. I layered two on my card, popping one of them up for dimension ...

I used some lovely gold ribbon to "hang" the ornaments and added a few sequins. I embossed the sentiment on another piece of the woodgrain cardstock. The embossing came out great on the textured cardstock. Here's a side view of the card to show how popping up the top layer adds more dimension to the card ...

Thanks for stopping by today and as usual please stop by the blogs below for more Holiday fun. We will be back tomorrow so stay tuned and thanks for all your support for this Holiday Event!!

Today I wanted to share a canvas I created for a class I taught at Right at Home Scrapbooking yesterday. We created three canvas ornaments using Authentique's "Believe" collection. I altered this canvas a bit from yesterday's class by giving the deer lovely gold antlers ...

This sweet deer has a wreath made from a red pipe cleaner. The sentiment is stenciled on using Tim Holtz "Christmas " Layering Stencil and then colored with Wendy Vecchi's Archival Ink in "Potting Soil".

We hope you are enjoying all the Holiday Inspiration this week. Please be sure to leave some love on the blogs of the crafty ladies participating in the fun event! Today I have another Holiday tag using Authentique's "Believe" collection. I started by covering the tag with a piece from the "Novelity" paper in the coordinating paper pad. I die-cut three houses using Stampin' Up's "Holiday Home" Stamps and Die Set. I layered the houses and popped one of them up with foam tape...

I added a cute little wood veneer tree, some gorgeous ribbon and a Heidi Swapp wood veneer word to finish off my tag.

The charm is from an OLD necklace - it added to the rustic feel of this tag! Thanks for stopping by today and please stop by the blogs below for more ideas for your Holiday crafting!! See you tomorrow!!

12 Days of Holiday Inspiration - Day 5

Welcome to Day 5 of the 12 Days of Holiday Inspiration Blog Event brought to you by the "Inspiration Crew".
Today I decided to change it up a bit and create something more in the altered art realm. I love bottle cap art and finally created my first piece. I found a free printable vintage Holiday image and sized it to fit my 1.5" bottle cap. I punched out the circle image and glued it to the inside of the cap. I wrapped a small piece of silver pipe cleaner around the inside. With a cropadile I punched a small hole in the top and bottom of the bottle cap and added  jump rings. The top jump ring allows for a ribbon or an ornament holder to hang the ornament. The bottom jump ring allowed me to add some beading.

It's hard to see but I used a clear Wink of Stella Brush to highlight Santa's hat, tree and belt! Here's a close-up ...

I will definitely create more bottle cap art in the future. The caps come in many sizes,  up to 4.0".
As usual, check out all the blogs of the crafty participants below for lots of Inspiration! I will see you all tomorrow for a new Holiday project!

Today I want to share a card I made using some older Authentique "Wonder" paper. I used some leftover pieces I had in a 6x6 paper pack. This card has a more vintage feel to it which I love!!

I started with a doily and added some gold thread and a few banner pieces. I tucked a Santa image I cut from the collection under the glitter banner and embossed a sentiment on matching cream cardstock.

The glitter paper is from Stampin' Up! and the quality of this paper is awesome - no messy glitter paper and the sparkle is incredible!!

For todays' project I created a mixed media Holiday Tag using Lawn Fawn's "Snow Day" petite paper pack. Lawn Fawn's colors are so bright and cheery that they are hard to resist!!

I roughly cut three triangles to create my tree. I added faux stitching around the edges with a white pen and stamped on them with a script stamp and gesso. I added some "snow" by scrapping Ranger's Texture Paste through Tim Holtz "Speckles" layering stencil. I used a Lawn Fawn adhesive Flair that coordinates with the collection for the star on my tree.

The edging on the right of the tag is music washi tape. Reminder: check out all the crafty blogs below for more inspiration and a chance for prizes!!!! See you tomorrow!!

I created a simple card for today's inspiration. I used Lawn Fawn's "Peace Joy Love" petite paper pack again for my card. I love the bright Holiday colors in this collection!

I cut a few strips of paper, notched out a banner at the ends and layered them under a simple tree. I embossed the sentiment on white cardstock and layered that over the tree. The scalloped dictionary vellum is from Maggie Holmes "Open Book" collection. I added a few sequins as ornaments and a star sequin for the top of the tree.

Mixed Media Monthly December Challenge

Happy Monday! Did the Holiday fly by or what?!?!? I need a holiday from the Holiday!! I wouldn't change a thing though - the time spent with family, friends and teaching was the best way to spend the Holiday.
Today I will be posting twice ... that's right, TWO posts from me today!! The first is December's challenge over on the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog. The challenge is so fun this month - it's a game of tic-tac-toe. Choose the three elements you want to incorporate onto your project and start creating. Here's our logo ...

I went with Stencil, Glitter and Patterned paper.
I decided to decorate an embroidery hoop I've had in my stash for some time. I started with some older Authentique papers. I traced around the hoop onto the music paper and then stenciled some snowflakes onto one side with modeling paste. Once dry I adhered that to the back of the hoop. I cut out three simple trees, stamped them with a script stamp and gesso and attached them to the music paper - popping up two of them with foam tape for dimension.

I added some stickles to the snowflakes, a few sequins, some shimmer twine and done!! Here's a close-up of the stenciled snowflakes ...

Our sponsor for December is Inspiration Emporium. Create a project playing the tic-tac-toe game and enter our challenge for a chance to win a $25.00 gift card and 10% off with code MMMC. Head on over to the Mixed Media Monthly Blog for more inspiration form the team and out Guest Designer Joy Kennedy!!
Stop by later today for my second post with another Christmas project and a FUN blog hop!!!

Creative Scrappers | Sketch 283 Reveal

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone that celebrates Thanksgiving had a wonderful holiday! I spent the day at my brother and sister in law's home and had a lovely day with family and friends. The food was fantastic - my favorite meal of the year!! You can't go wrong with wonderful company, delicious food and then a nap later!!!
Instead of shopping on Black Friday I had a lovely day crafting with a few great friends - I did snag a bargain or two online though! Saturday was back with the family making cookies for an upcoming cookie swap.
That brings us to today. I'm teaching a canvas class this afternoon over at
Right at Home Scrapbooking. We are close to sold out but you check with the store to see if there's any availability.  To check on the details for the class, including a supply list, go to "Upcoming Classes" under my blog header for more info. If there are enough people interested we can have another class, so stop by the RAH Blog and let them know or email me and I will pass the info on!!
Today is also reveal day over at Creative Scrappers. The latest sketch was a bit of a challenge for me - I struggled with the triangles in the design. After playing with paper placement I finally came up with a layout I really like. Here's my finished layout ...

I used Noel Mignon's November Kit "Maple Creek". Sorry, this kit is sold out but please check the Noel Mignon Website for info on a kit subscription - it's worth every penny. The kits are LOADED with current product and you will love them!!! Here's sketch 283 ...

I shrunk the sketch a bit but and rotated the orientation of the photo. There was lots of white space on my page so a splattering of Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Gold really helped. Here's a few close-ups ...

I can't get enough of Maggie Holmes Vellum Dictionary Paper from the Open Book Collection - I had to buy more!!
Our Creative Scrappers sponsor for December is 17 Turtles a Digital Cut Files Shop for the Silhouette. 17 Turtles is owned by Juliana Michaels and you need to stop by her website to check out all the fun cut files available. To win the December prize from 17 Turtles create a layout and enter the challenges using out inlinkz widget at the end of the reveals for Sketch 283-284. Deadline to submit your layout is December 31st at Midnight EST. Please visit 17 Turtles on Facebook / Shop / Blog.

Celebrating a New Arrival!

Hello Bloggers! Hope you are all doing well and getting ready to enjoy the weekend.
I wanted to share a project I recently created for one of our Design Team members at Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog. The very talented Lalo Ik recently had a baby boy so the design team decided to create projects to help celebrate the family's new arrival. We are continuing with our challenge theme this month which is using stamps on your project. I decided to FINALLY decorate a 7Gypsies shadow box I have had in my stash for years! I grabbed a My Mind's Eye Lost and Found "Sunshine" 6x6 paper pad, also from my stash, and used some burnt orange and soft blue papers to decorate the shadow box. Here's the finished project ...

I stamped the corrugated alpha letters with a script stamp and Wendy Vecchi's "Orange Blossom" Archival ink. I inked all paper edges and the sentiment with the same ink.

I wanted to use lots of balloons and did NOT want to hand cut them so I went to Michael's and grabbed a Martha Stewart Balloon punch which saved the day. Punches are expensive but I don't mind the investment if I will use it often.

Congratulation Lalo and family and Welcome Little One!! Have a great weekend and I'll be back soon with more craftiness!!
