An Art Filled Weeknd!

Hello bloggers! Hope you are all well and enjoying life. I'm happily off today after a few busy work days. Time off is the only way I can get through the work week sometimes, especially if there is a lot of art involved in my time off! This past weekend was filled with art which makes me soooo happy!  I had the pleasure of attending several classes this past week at Right at Home Scrapbooking. We were very lucky to have the oh so talented Catherine Scanlon visit us for the weekend. Friday night Catherine taught a wonderful watercolor class - I learned so much about using products I already had! Saturday was an all day art journal class and we had the opportunity to use her newly released stamps and stencils. I learned some cool lettering techniques and can't wait to finish my pages. Thanks Catherine for a fun weekend!! Looking forward to your return visit in April!!

I also finished up a layout this past weekend using Creative Scrappers Sketch 260. This was a fun challenge for me and I wanted to change it up a bit. Here's the Sketch ...

I wanted to replace the triangles with something different so I grabbed my latest
Noel Mignon Kit "Fresh Start" and found these adorable chipboard speech bubbles by October Afternoon. The papers are from the same collection called "Daily Flash". Here's my take on the sketch ...

I have a few of the speech bubbles coming off the page. Instead of stitching the lines from the sketch I took an old credit card and dabbed it in gesso to create the white lines ...

I love this picture of Simba sleeping with one of her favorite toys. She dreams a lot and that's what inspired this layout. She is such a sweet dog and is almost 13 years old. I'm so lucky to have her in my life.  I added some gold sequins to accent the frame ...

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you find time for your passion. I will be back with projects from Project Life and a cute Valentine's Tag I created for a fun Valentine's Blog Hop with Jenn Shurkus! Details coming soon!

Project Life: Week 3

Good Wednesday Morning! I wanted to hop on to share my PL page for Week 3. I'm really lovin' the size of photo pocket page Design H. It is a great way to catch up and keep up. It also makes a great insert page if you have a busy week!! For Week 3 I broke into my Dear Lizzy "Polka Dot Party" Mini Core Kit! I have had this kit for awhile and I'm not sure why I waited to use it! For the next two weeks I'll feature this kit starting with my Week 3 page ...

The Amy Tangerine Calendar stamp is so adorable and even works on a smaller tag. The birds on a wire washi tape adds a nice pop of black.

Short and sweet! For Week 4 I'll return to a full 12 x 12 page with more photos! See you soon and thanks for stopping by!

Project Life: Week 2

Wow, a busy work week is finally behind me. It feels great to be in the studio - even if laundry and household chores are being done in the background! I'm finishing up a few projects - one of which is a Prima Doll Tag for an upcoming Valentine Blog Hop!! I haven't created a doll tag in awhile and I forgot how fun they are! It reminds me of paper dolls that we did as kids. The blog hop will start February 1st and continue through the 14th. Stay tuned for more details!!
I have also finished Week Two of Project Life. I continued with the collection I used for my title page and Week 1. I realized that I forgot to mention the collection in my previous post. I used Kaisercraft Captured Moments: "Snapshot" 4x6 and 3x4 cards. I love the color palette and it's a small collection that comes in two separate boxes. I used Photo Pocket Page Design H. There is more journaling this week and only a few photos - keeping it simple! Here's the whole page followed by some close-ups ...

I have loved using my Mom's typewriter and its' actually a very quick and easy way to add journaling to any sized card. So, week two is done. For Weeks 3 and 4 I'm diving into my Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party mini core kit! Have a great week and I'll see ya soon.

Project Life 2014

I recently joined the Project Life craze - August of 2013 to be exact. I wasn't sure if it was going to be my thing but, to my surprise, I have enjoyed it immensely! Since August, my PL supplies have grown and practically fill my one of my Ikea carts ...

Since I took this pic I have even more supplies! I have decided that the mini core kits are for me. I use the cards for a few weeks and then move on to another style. I have purchased only one full core kit and have tons left. I have split another full core kit with a friend and still have tons left. With all the awesome kits available I'd rather have a smaller quantity with less leftover. I think a PL swap would be a great idea!
I started PL in August 2013 so this year I'm excited to start on day one!! I am still trying to discover "my style" and I definitely have my go to items: doilies, date stamps, my AWESOME vintage typewriter, washi tape, sequins, paperclips, ribbon and tons of alpha cardstock stickers from my stash. I'm still working on the photography end. I have a Canon Selphy but the photos do not print in true 4x6 or 3x4 - they are smaller. The Selphy is a quick and easy way to print from your iphone and the quality of the film is great!
For my title page I started with a photo pocket page I haven't used before. It is Design J. Here's my title page for 2014 ...

This is a simple page but it allows the photos to have the spotlight. Here's close-ups of the cards and photos ...

Week 1 is on the back of this page. Last year I didn't start with a title page - still working on that!

The date stamp, (I have an obsession with date stamps), is Amy Tangerine's Calendar Stamp.

Week 2 is done and I will share as soon as I can photograph it - such a challenge in this New England climate. (I shoot outdoors so I'm limited). Thanks for letting me share with you and it's exciting to start this PL journey another year right from the beginning!! See you soon.

December Daily 2013 - Part 2

Hey there everyone! I'm back with part 2 of my December Daily album. I left off with pages 15 and 16 which featured my FAV Christmas movies, "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Elf" - both are special in very different ways!! So, onward to more pages ...

Who would think we'd have 63 degree weather in late December? Simba was quite happy too!

How cute is this picture of Max!! He is certainly handsome in his new bow tie!!

New Years Eve = Chinese Food and Quan's is one of the best in my area!!!

Well, that wraps up my very first December Daily! I learned some things to make DD easier this year and I'm looking forward to tackling this project again! Thanks so much for looking - I know there were lots of photos in these past two posts!! Stay tuned for my first week of PL. I can't wait for the new CHA Project Life releases - I might have to work overtime to get everything on my wish list LOL!! Take care!!

December Daily 2013 - Part I

It's finally done!! December Daily 2013!! This is my first ever December Daily and, I'll be honest, it was an effort! I am glad it's done so I can move forward!! I have learned several things that will help with DD 2014 ... START EARLY!! I completed my cover in late November before vacation and then slacked off. I actually created a page in this DD listing what I need to improve on for this year!!
I used Heidi Swapp's Believe Memory File Mini Album which is adorable! It has lots of cute pages in all different sizes and shapes. The coordinating embellishments included banners, epoxy words and die cut shapes. I've shared the cover before but here it is again ...

Since this is a photo heavy post I thought I would break it up into several posts so I don't bore you all!! I didn't keep up with a photo a day during the month of December which I will definitely do this year. There are so many great sources for "photo a day" prompts and even with that I failed to keep up!! Anyway, here's some pages ...

I love seam binding ribbon - even plain! It can be colored easily as well with sprays, inks, etc.

Yes, I have a thing for doilies!! The gold glitter tape is from American Crafts.

The next few days are Bermuda pictures ... there were several Christmas trees decorated at the resort and I didn't take any pictures of them - guess I was too focused on the sun, pool and beach!!!

I will stop here for today and return with the next several pages tomorrow!! Thanks for taking the time to look and I'd love to hear from you! Have a great day and I'll see you soon!!!
