Project Life | Week 34-2015

Happy Friday!! While I was on vacation I caught up on a few weeks of my project life for 2015. For Week 34 I used Heidi Swapp's September Skies Value and Core Kits. I used October Afternoon's photo pocket page - lots of 3 by 3 pockets which I LOVE!! Here's my page. I'm using a new light box to photograph my projects. I love it - it saves me this time of year with the huge lack of daylight. However, I caught the light strip reflection in one of my photos, so I need to work on that! Here's my page ...
I love the September Skies collection. The pinks and greens are so fresh! Here are some close ups ...
The pops of silver glitter are so pretty!
I also added a few wood veneer pieces to some of the cards.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great weekend.

5 for 5 Blog Hop Event: Thanksgiving - Day 3

I'm happy to say that the 5 for 5 Gang is back with another fun Blog Event. Who is the 5 for 5 gang you ask? Well, we are 5 crafty friends getting together and creating 5 Holiday themed projects for 5 consecutive days. Our last Blog Event was Halloween 2015, so we are so excited to be back!! We have a blast creating projects for you and inspiring you to create along with us!! We use whatever we have in our stash and just have fun!
Welcome to Day 3 of our latest 5 for 5 Blog Hop Event. The event runs from November 9th to November 13th and is Thanksgiving inspired.
Today's theme is SENTIMENTS ONLY. I will admit - I struggled with this one. I over-thinked, as usual LOL! Then, I kept it simple. I had a partially done tag and simply added the word "today" which I ran through my Minc Machine. I used gold foil and the shine is stunning.

I added some ribbons and done! Please stop by and check out the designers projects today and all week.

Project Life: Week 43 | 2014

Hello - hope you all are doing well and enjoying this glorious summer.
In an ongoing effort to complete Project Life 2014, I recently bought a new Project Life Collection from Hobby Lobby called September Skies by Heidi Swapp. I purchased the Core Kit and the Value Kit so I would have lots to work with. The Value Kit contains some fun die cut shapes which add a lot to the cards. Here's my page using Photo Pocket Page Design B.
I LOVE the title card - I used some bits from the value kit to dress up the card ...
Here's the other 4x6 cards ...

The 3x4 pockets are all landscape in orientation so I printed out my photos with the Instax Printer. I love the polaroid look of the photos. I stapled each photo to the card and journaled behind the photo.

Here's some more close-ups ...

I LOVE the dog card. I added more silver glitter elements to coordinate with the adorable doggie card.

This is such a fun collection. I will be back with more pages using this collection as I try to finish up PL 2014!! Thanks for stopping by and I'll be back soon!

The Country Life | "Inspired By" Challenge

Hi Bloggers,
As you must know by now, it's challenge week over on the Noel Mignon Blog! Each day this week the Design Team is hosting a new challenge including a sample project. The prize is, wait for it, a free Daily Diary Kit of your choice IF you complete all SIX challlenges!! Check out all the details on the Noel Mignon Blog!! These kits are so worth it!!
I'm here with a Project Life page using the new Noel Mignon Country Life Daily Diary Kit. First of all, how awesome is this kit!! The reds, blues, greens and yellows are gorgeous ...
I still have lots of summer photos and there are plenty of elements in this kit that coordinate with my summery pics.
My challenge is super simple: be >>>Inspired By <<< someone or some technique and incorporate that into your Project Life page or Layout. My inspiration came while browsing Heidi Swapp's blog. I came across a tag album created by Jamie Pate using PL cards. I love how she layered the cards with photos and elements tucked here and there. Here's my page ...

Each 3x4 card has a photo stapled to the card with hidden journaling behind the photo and elements added on top and underneath the photo. Here's a close-up ...
This card has an overlay on top, then the photo, then the journaling under the photo. I LOVE the layered look ...
The Country Life Daily Diary Kit also includes some fun 2x2 cards. My photo pocket page design didn't include 2x2 pockets, so enter the Fuse Tool!! I altered one of the 4x4 pockets to accommodate the 2x2 cards. I LOVE the Fuse Tool!
I was sooo excited that our Daily Diary kit included a Heidi Swapp Color Shine AND it was one that I don't already own !! I am in love with Heidi's Color Shine Sprays. I splattered some of the cards with the Color Shine to add a little Mixed Media flair to my page.
For even more close ups, be sure to head on over to the Noel Mignon Blog and join us in all the fun challenges. Thanks for stopping by today and I'll return soon with more Project Life pages with the Country Life Daily Diary Kit!!

A Watercolor Project Life Page

Happy Wednesday Ya'll!! I'm back today with another Project Life page. I was so excited to have the opportunity to use some GORGEOUS Project Life cards designed by the very talented Stephanie Lewis. I chose to use some watercolor cards that are not only beautiful but are superior in quality! PLEASE stop by Steph's Etsy Shop to see all her lovely PL cards, note cards and notepads. Here's the set of cards I chose from Steph's shop ...
Aren't they so pretty?! Each design is hand drawn and digitally converted then printed on high quality, thick matte cover stock. Here's my finished page ...
I love the look of neutral colored photos with the beautiful watercolor cards. I stitched on each one of Steph's cards and splattered them with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Gold. Here's some close ups of the cards ...
I used my Fuse Tool to create the shaker pocket ... so easy and fun!

I added some gold dotted washi tape to some of the photos - I can't get enough gold lately!

Steph has several sets of PL cards in her shop so please check them out! They are so worth it and very affordable. Thanks Steph for the opportunity to use these amazing cards - it was a pleasure!!! Have a great day!!

Project Life | Week 39

Catching up ... do we ever really?!? Creatively and in real life - it's hard to always be caught up. In real life, you have to constantly prioritize and some things take a back seat. I feel it's the same creatively. Juggling work, commuting, family, household responsibilities and chores leaves less time for creating. So you prioritize projects depending on deadlines and free time. In August of 2013 I joined the project life craze. I quickly discovered that I really enjoyed it. In 2014 I started on January first and did really well keeping up until other awesome design team opportunities arose. So, PL took a back seat. Gradually I'm finding my way back to PL and in between DT deadlines I'm catching up on 2014.
Today I'm sharing Week 39|2014. The photo pocket page is Design F. I have so many PL collections - enough to FILL a Raskog cart. This week I used Heidi Swapp's "Favorite Things" collection. This collection is bold and bright and comes with coordinating embellishments. Here's the entire page followed by some close-ups ...

The title page has a clear overlay on it that says "love" and I added the "wk. 39" on top of the overlay

Here's my favorite section of this page ...

I used some Martha Stewart Glitter on the bottom of the "today will be awesome" card to spice it up a bit.

Below is a list of supplies I used. I have Week 40 finished and will share that with you on Monday. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day and lovely weekend!!

Mother's Day Mixed Media Cards

Hello everyone - thanks for stopping by today. I hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day celebration. I know this was a hard day for some and my thoughts are with you. I'm so close to my Mom, more so as I get older, and I can't imagine how hard it is to be missing your Mom. We had family visiting from Virginia as well as local relatives for a great gathering yesterday. LOTS of food and desserts and some adult beverages. It was a nice day and I'm thankful to have a great family.
In honor of Mother's Day I wanted to create some handmade cards for my Mom and her cousin whom I'm close with. I wanted to create something mixed media with lots of dimension. I've created tags with this technique and have loved the results. Here's what I created ...

I started with Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock for my card front. This is nice and heavy and able to hold up to lots of wet mixed media products. I then gathered supplies from my stash - OLD paper flowers, cheesecloth, beads, keys, safety pins, charms - whatever I had on hand. I then glued these elements with Matte Medium to the side of my card front ...

I doesn't matter what colors you choose. I then used Tim Holtz "Mesh" Layering Stencil and scraped Ranger's Texture Paste through the stencil onto the white space of the card. Once dry, the entire card gets a coat of gesso.

Next, the fun begins. I chose a variety of Spray Mists and painted the mists onto the card. I added water so they would blend and just had fun. I have linked ALL the products I've used below and recommend all of these products. I didn't include what I had in my stash, but these are items that are probably in your stash as well. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Heidi Swapp's Color Shine - especially the gold!! The shimmer it adds is stunning ...

I typed out the sentiment on my vintage typewriter and inked the edges with Distress Inks "Fossilized Amber" and Salty Ocean". Both distress inks were a perfect match for the sprays - love when that happens!!! This is such a fun and freeing technique, I encourage you to try it. It works great on tags, canvases and cards.
Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the supply list below. Feel free to email me with any questions! I appreciate your comments as well.
I will return this week with a fun vacation mini album - instagram size!!
