A sketch and a Kit ...

So, you know how I LOVE sketches, right?!? And you know how I LOVE Noel Mignon monthly kits ... so, using them together doesn't get any better! Creative Scrappers latest sketch is so fun. It is Sketch # 254 and you can see all the DT reveals on the blog.  Here's the sketch ...

I used Noel Mignon's October Union Square Kit for this sketch. Here's my take on the awesome sketch ...

CS Sketch 254 2 copy

I had the opportunity to take several classes with the oh so fabulous Dina Wakley. I learned so much about combining color and mediums and I would highly recommend her classes!! I have been wanting to scrap this photo for awhile and this collection was perfect for it. I combined elements from the main kit with the coordinating Project Life kit and blinged it up with some gold accents.

I'm so loving these Dear Lizzy Thickers ...

So, thanks for looking and I would love to hear from you. I'm off to work on PL for this week!! Have a great week and GO RED SOX!!!!!!!!

Project Life - Week 43

Well, this weekend was WAY TOO SHORT!! Aren't they all though?!?! Having worked on Saturday made it a bit shorter, but I will love the paycheck!! I made the most of yesterday, my only studio time over the weekend, and finished up and photographed my PL page for week 43. I used Becky Higgins "Just Add Color" core kit again - I'm lovin' the colors in this kit!! The 2x2 squares are so fun and I decorated most of them with some Washi Tape to jazz them up a bit! I used page design "HSN 1" for this page so I could incorporate the 2x2 squares, which I've been itchin' to use. These page protectors were part of the kit that was exclusive to HSN and is still available. Here's the entire page ...

The Title page includes Washi tape and old thickers from my stash ...

My go to screen shot of the weather and my thoughts on the changing seasons ...Remember these old Heidi Swapp transparency clocks ...

And now the AWESOME 2x2 squares ... and my FAV of late ... the date stamp ...

here's a grouping of four 2x2 photos on a 4x4 square which I did on my Canon Selphy and my new iphone ...

more adorable 2x2 squares ...

and the final card ... my growing PL cart ...

If you're into Project Life I know you would LOVE this kit!!  Check it out on HSN!! Thanks for visiting and have a great week!!!

So Excited!!!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone! Hope your weekend is going well!! I worked Saturday morning (need some extra cash, well, always, but I'm saving up for a new desk for my studio) and then visited my parents in Norwell!! We ran errands, had dinner and then I came home to HAPPY MAIL!! My first EVER card is published in Paper Creations Winter 2014. This is also my first pub in this magazine!

My card is in the Valentine's section of this issue. Here's my card ...

My "Love You" card was created with the "Cherish" collection by the amazing Christine Adolph for Splash of Color. I added some rub-ons from my stash to accent the card and wrapped some gorgeous Platnium Shimmer Twine from the Twinery around the card. A few splatters of gesso added a mixed media feel.

Thanks for sharing this with me! This is a short weekend for me so I'm off to work on PL Week 44!! Week 43 is done and I will share tomorrow!!! Have a great Sunday!!

Project Life: Week 42

Monday, Monday ... can't trust that day!! Remember that song - or did I just totally date myself!  Monday ... back to a full work week, and more commuting - when is the next Holiday LOL!

I finished my PL page for Week 42 and I changed things up by using a different core kit. For the next few pages I'm using Becky Higgins "Just Add Color" kit that I recently purchased. This kit includes 4 x 4 AND 2 x 2 squares that are so fun and colorful! My last few pages were monochromatic and this week is all about color.   This kit has beautiful reds, oranges, yellow and greens and the opposite sides are all neutrals - perfect for a formal event. The kit includes sticker sheets making embellishing the cards a breeze. I used PL Page Design Q for this page. Here's the entire page ...

I LOVE the colors here!! Here's the title card and more close-ups ...

The 2 x 2 squares are so fun and easily add detail to the cards. I use weather screen shots alot and it's a nice memory to look back on ...

and the final card ... wine on Friday night and the gorgeous sun on my face on Saturday!

So, thanks for looking into my everyday - not too exciting, but it's mine! Have a great week everyone!!

Halloween ATC's

Hello Everyone! Hope you had a great week. The weather this past week has been amazing - I've been walking during my lunch breaks and after work with Simba and soaking it in!!

I'm so glad I had studio time this weekend. I "whipped up" a few Halloween ATC's Friday night using Marah Johnson's Halloween collection for Splash of Color!! Here's the two I created ...I love this little owl, and he's even cuter with a hat ...

The second ATC has a more mixed media feel with some gesso painted here and there ...

I've finished my PL page for week 42 and will share tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by and I'm off to work on week 43!! Have a great week!!

Days off and a Sketch

Hello everyone! Hope you all are doing well.

I have so enjoyed my last few days off. I spent time with family, great friends and also had some studio time.Today, I picked up my vintage typewriter from a repair shop and the owner said he actually had some offers on it! You can't beat quality equipment when things were made to last!!

I finished a layout today based on the latest Creative Scrappers Sketch #253. I used Noel Mignon's October's Kit "Union Square" to create this page. Noel's kits are PACKED with product and are worth every penny!! I did LOTS of layering on this page and bent the edges of the papers to add domension. Here's the inspirational sketch ...

and here's my layout ...

I LOVE this picture of Josh - he's so grown up now. Here's a close-up of all the layers including an awesome envelope from Fancy Pants ...

The kit came with a Dear Lizzy wooden word "love" which I paunted with gold paint. It looked kinda plain so I added some gesso to a background stamp and stamped it on the painted word and it looked so much better ...

I loved this sketch and am so glad Creative Scrappers is back. Thanks for stopping by. Now I'm off to tidy up the studio and try to get back to the reality of work!! Have a great rest of the week! I will be back this weekend with my PL page for Week 42.

Week 42 - Happy Columbus Day!!

Happy Columbus Day!! Hope you are off work and enjoying a beautiful Monday Holiday! I'm off today and tomorrow and I am planning on serious studio time. I have just finished my Project Life page for Week 41 and I love how this one came out! I used Becky Higgins "Honey" Core Kit and focused on the blue cards within the core kit as well as the coordinating 12 x 12 papers. The page protector is Design Q which will help me transition into the "Just Add Color" Kit which contains lots of pretty 4x4 square cards. The title card for this week is my fav thus far and I love using bits and pieces and leftovers and scraps from my stash. Here's the whole page ...

Here's my title card ... I finally used these adorable Dear Lizzy feathers ...

Washi tape, doily, a flair button ...

The beauty of Fall ... and the beauty of twine LOL!!

Pumpkin everything !!

And my tuckered out studio helpers ...

This week, in addition to PL Week 42, I hope to finish two layouts from awesome sketches using my latest Noel Mignon kit "Union Square". Have a great week everyone!!

Project Life: Week 40

Well, PL Week 40 has been done but waiting for the rain to stop long enough to photograph has been challenging. So, inbetween the rain I ran out to shoot some pics. It's also windy so I had to tape my PL cards down, put a trash bag under my foam board and shoot will notice same raindrops on a few pics!! This week I used my Becky Higgins "Honey Core Kit" and went with a red/pink theme. The page protector is Design F. There is more journaling than photos this week and I broke out the sewing machine on this page. My vintage typewriter is in the shop getting restored so the journaling is hand written this week. Here's the whole page ...

Here's some close-ups ... The hanger fell down on the title page .. oops

Yes, more TV Premiere's and Revenge is another FAV ... and a new show to follow called Betrayal is also quite juicy!!

I split the photo on this section ... and used a doily ...I kinda have a thing for doilies!

There's those raindrop I was referring to ...

Finally, the week ended with my Birthday ... I had a nice Brunch with my Family and a relaxing day in the studio. So, thanks for stopping by and I hope you Week 41 is a great one!!

A Birthday, A Sketch and A Kit!

WOW, another Birthday has arrived ... the "number" is an eye-opener, and thankfully, I do not feel my "number"!! Thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes.

My layout this week is based on Creative Scrappers latest Sketch - #252. My page took a while because I got "stuck" a few times - once with the square without a photo and the title didn't come too quickly. So, I put it aside for a few days and then it come together. I used paper's from September's Noel Mignon Kit "Miss Nelson. Here's the sketch and my layout based on it ...

I stayed true to the sketch and just angled the squares a bit. Here's some close-ups ...

Thanks to both Creative Scrappers for the inspiring sketch and to Noel Mignon for the AMAZING kits with which to create. It's a creative match made in heaven!! Thanks for stopping by - I'm off to finish my Project Life page for this week!!
