Mixed Media Monthly Challenge | Photo Inspiration

Hi Everyone! Hope you are all doing well!!
I am beyond excited for my upcoming annual Crop on the Cape Event. I am looking forward to seeing LOTS of wonderful crafty friends, taking LOTS of goofy pictures and maybe getting SOME crafting done!! It's such a great time and a nice break from work. We leave Friday morning and stay the whole weekend. It's ALWAYS a blast and I can't wait to see everyone.
Today I'm sharing my project for this month's Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. This month we have a photo inspiration as our challenge.
I chose the eggs and some of the colors of the photo as my inspiration. I created a mixed media tag using lots of distress inks to create a watercolor background. I also used distress inks to color my eggs. I started with Tim Holtz Watercolor Cardstock. I used watered down Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress inks to create the background. I added a doily to the background and then placed the watercolored eggs on top of the doily.
I used Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade to color the eggs.
I added some flecks of Gilt paint from the Dina Wakley Media line of heavy body acrylic paints. I used the same distress inks I used to color the eggs to dye the crinkle ribbon for the top of my tag.
As a reminder our sponsor this month is Waffle Flower Crafts, a crafty online shop that sells stamps and dies. A lucky winner will receive a $25.00 gift certificate to shop online at Waffle Flower Crafts.
Head on over to the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog to see the rules on how to join in on this month's fun challenge.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!!

Monday Mixed Media Tag

Happy Monday Everyone! Hope you all had a nice weekend and enjoyed last night's Superbowl. Our New England Patriots didn't make it but I still watched it for the awesome commercials and halftime activities! I spent the weekend catching up on bills, getting my taxes ready to file and creating a bit. I made a card and a tag. My tag is a mixed media one and it was fun getting all painty again!
I'm entering my tag into Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge "Ray of Sunshine" featuring Dina Wakley products. Here's my tag ...
I used Ranger's watercolor paper for the background and the Scribbly Girl. I applied gesso to the tag, let it dry then sprayed the tag with water. I added Dina's paints to the wet background so the paints would move and blend like water colors. I applied some yellow to the upper left corner for some rays of sunshine and some glass beads. The crinkle ribbon was dragged into several colors of watered down paint.
The tissue tape adds some interest and grounds the girl. I splattered some Night to the background and added circles with the same color.

I'll be back tomorrow with my card. Hope you have a great day and I have listed the supplies used for my tag below. Thanks for stopping by!

September Already?!?!?

Howdy Mixed Media Peeps! Can you believe it's September?!?! Well, I cannot. I do NOT want the summer to be over, just a bit cooler so I can open my windows and get fresh air into my house! There are still more pool days, cookouts and more deck time to come and I'm savoring every minute!
With a new month comes a new Mixed Media Monthly Challenge!! This month's challenge is Photo Inspired.
I LOVE how differently the team interpreted the challenge and you can see all the projects on the blog. I drew on the colors for my inspiration. I wanted to create a layout, mixed media style. I haven't made a layout in months and was feeling the urge. Here's my project...
I prepped my white cardstock with clear gesso and then created a watercolor background using Distress Spray Stains in shades of blue.
I used a few stencils with Hickory Smoke and Black Soot Distress Inks. I also added some Squeezed Lemonade Distress Spray Stain for a pop of yellow.
Next I layered coordinating patterned papers and a doily. This would be the mat for my photo.
Then I added my photo, painted a Heidi Swapp wood veneer word with Dina's Black paint, added some red thread behind the papers and a few epoxy dots and done! This is such an easy and fun way to create a water colored background!
