September Already?!?!?

Howdy Mixed Media Peeps! Can you believe it's September?!?! Well, I cannot. I do NOT want the summer to be over, just a bit cooler so I can open my windows and get fresh air into my house! There are still more pool days, cookouts and more deck time to come and I'm savoring every minute!
With a new month comes a new Mixed Media Monthly Challenge!! This month's challenge is Photo Inspired.
I LOVE how differently the team interpreted the challenge and you can see all the projects on the blog. I drew on the colors for my inspiration. I wanted to create a layout, mixed media style. I haven't made a layout in months and was feeling the urge. Here's my project...
I prepped my white cardstock with clear gesso and then created a watercolor background using Distress Spray Stains in shades of blue.
I used a few stencils with Hickory Smoke and Black Soot Distress Inks. I also added some Squeezed Lemonade Distress Spray Stain for a pop of yellow.
Next I layered coordinating patterned papers and a doily. This would be the mat for my photo.
Then I added my photo, painted a Heidi Swapp wood veneer word with Dina's Black paint, added some red thread behind the papers and a few epoxy dots and done! This is such an easy and fun way to create a water colored background!

Our guest designer this month is the Uber talented Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. I have had the opportunity of taking several classes with Julie and I love her teaching style and sense of humor. You HAVE to stop by the blog today to see her creation - it's amazing!!!

WE also want to welcome a new Design Team member to our group >>>
Lisa Adametz. Please stop by her blog and see her fabulous work. Welcome Lisa!!

Our sponsor for this month is Angela Magnuson owner/creator of Unity Stamps Company! Angela is offering one month FREE to Brave Girl University!!
Click on the link above for details! This is a fabulous prize!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and we really hope you will join us in this month Photo Inspiration Challenge! We would LOVE to see your interpretation. See you later this week with another mixed media tag, Tim Holtz style!!
