Mixed Media Monthly Challenge: February Reveal | Glitter

Welcome February 1st! The daylight hours are already getting a bit longer and more daylight is always welcome in my book!! Hope you all had a great weekend. My weekend was productive - family time on Saturday and crafty time on Sunday.
We have a new reveal on the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog.

As you can see, this month's theme is GLITTER! I haven't created a canvas in awhile so that was the plan. The DT was lucky this month as we received some yummy new paints from PaperArtsy.

PaperArtsy JUST released a new line of Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paints in some seriously delicious colors. The paints go on soooooo smoothly and dry super fast. As a mixed media artist, I have ALOT of paints but these truly are a pleasure to work with. I grabbed a 6x12 canvas and applied a heavy coat of fiber paste to create a textured background. I then used Tim Holtz Bricked layering stencil and texture paste to add even more texture. This is a fun technique to use prior to adding paints or mists - the paints and spray inks then settle into the "nook and crannies" created by all the awesome texture! I then added two shades of Fresco Paint: "Captain Peacock" and "Caribbean Sea" to create an ombre palette on my canvas. I watered down the paints as I applied them so they would blend.  I then added some hand cut patterned paper hearts to the middle of the canvas. I painted a wood veneer "xoxo" with "Cherry Red" and glued that to the canvas. I added some beads around the painted word and here's the end result (I apologize for the lack of step out photos - I was down to the wire with this project - story of my life lately LOL)
The glitter is on top of the "xoxo" which you can see better in my close-ups.
If you click on the photo you will see a sharper image and be able to see the glitter better.
Our sponsor this month is Frantic Stamper Inc. They are offering a $25.00 gift certificate to a lucky participant so make sure you follow our few simple rules to qualify! More detailed info on the MMMC Blog.

My supplies for this project are listed below and include all but the new
PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paints which you will find on their website. The wood veneer is from Crate Paper.

Thanks for visiting and please stop by the MMMC Blog for more inspiration using these paints along with this month's Glitter theme! Have a great Monday!!

Love the texture you've created and those colours are gorgeous. Great idea to water down the paints so that they will blend, didn't know they would do that. Fabulous project and thank you for the inspiration x
